Lea, So true. A lot of times, it's just about having the right perspective. Perspective can dramatically change how we feel about a situation. That's often why different people - with different perspectives - respond to situations in different ways. Dr. Melissa Read
Michael, Some instructors have developed a wonderful and efficient system for teaching and grading in their courses. If you're one of them, simply keep up the great work and address efficiency challenges as any arise in the future. Dr. Melissa Read

Marianne, That sounds like a real challenge. Many instructors bounce around between several jobs at once. This is especially hard - to your point - when you have to switch between jobs during the same day. Dr. Melissa Read
Lani, True on all points! There are so many reasons to prioritize. Even if we are not in a stressful situation, it's always good to approach our work efficiently. This way, when work increases, we are ready. Dr. Melissa Read

Brandon, Absolutely. It's a really challenge when student motivation is low. Something that has worked well for me in those situations is to remind my students about their end game. Why are they in school in the first place? What are they trying to accomplish longer term. Sometimes, reorienting to the future state can really help. Dr. Melissa Read
David, You are not alone! I hear the same thing from so many instructors. Many love to ride on their motorcycles on the open roads as a way to reduce stress. Working out is another great outlet, and I'm interested to hear that it actually heightens your awareness of your environment. Nice! Dr. Melissa Read
Ronda, Sounds like the right approach and one that's well balanced too. I like how you rely both on others as well as your own new techniques for coping. Nice thinking! Dr. Melissa Read
Philippe, Interesting finding. This is not something that I've heard before from others who have taken this course, but it's really helpful. Yes, looking back through my years of teaching and grading, this is consistent with my experiences as well. Dr. Melissa Read
Heather, Sounds like you are already implementing a lot of best practices from this course. Great work! I like how you mention student grading - as it has so many benefits. My favorite benefit is the feedback and learning that takes place during the process. It's a great time saver as well. Dr. Melissa Read

Steve, Yes, deadlines can be really tough. There are a few things we can do to make them easier. One thing that works is to find out about task assignments as early as possible. Reaching out to our administrations and fellow faculty members and finding out what's coming into our queue can give us good transparency to plan for the future. Dr. Melissa Read
