Carl, Thank you :) yes, my research emerges from an integration of learning theory, theories of interaction and language learning...new technology has the potential of providing this potential for engagement and application for learners - I would love if you would continue this discussion in my instructional exchange forum in the faculty lounge - great discussion! Dr. Ruth Reynard
Martha, Great points! I agree - in addition to the flexibility, this approach extends the learning environment and provides individual learning spaces for each student within the group learning community of the class. Dr. Ruth Reynard
Kerry, True - and in every workplace. Dr. Ruth Reynard
Kennedy , Could you provide some examples of each of the aspects you identify? Dr. Ruth Reynard

David, Very true - and tthis technology provides an opportunity to capture and distribute learning moments and experiences beyond the class meeting. Dr. Ruth Reynard
Peter, Yes and the reusing of digital resources is a great efficiency of the technology. Dr. Ruth Reynard
Discussion Comment
Peter, How does learning alongside students from all over the country alter the learning experience for the students do you think? Dr. Ruth Reynard
Jason, We do want students to be able to memorize successfully when needed, however, this cannot be the only way we assess what students know. Memorizing material does not mean the material is understood by the student - only remembered...we must find ways to check for understanding and assess actual learning. Dr. Ruth Reynard
Kerry, How exactly do you see this happening with yoru students? Could you provide more specifics on this? Dr. Ruth Reynard
Discussion Comment
Kerry, ...unless the instructor still tries to perform the more conventional role of being the source of information. When the instructor changes their role adaptively when using new technology, then I agree :) Dr. Ruth Reynard
