About me

Activity

I liked all the all the teaching tool in this module especially the spagetti idiea. We have something similar with wires but the spagetti is much better better I like how they all build on the group of muscles and by physically holding it they will remember.

I like the using visual and hands on learnig when teaching to my adult learners. I do like the Incrediable edible cell because for learning parts of the cell may be difficult for some students and this will make it more memorable. I have had students make osteon cakes in the past and they were both educational and delicious.

I liked a lot of the teaching skills outlined in this module. I like the Dot on the Watch the best because I have a large lab class and I can not be with all of them at the same time. This will also reinforce them to bring in their watch which they oftem forget.

What I have learned and will use are many of the teaching tools that I learned today. The one I like the best is eyes and ears adn take a picture. Medical assisting  students have to learn to use all senses when we are talking to patients are taking a chief complaint. The paitients mouth may say one thing and the body is saying another.

Technology that is used correctly can be a great supplement and support to a sound instruction. Students need technology that is user friendly and readily available. Remember that we are teaching all generations so we need to incorporate a variety of technology.

While I have been teaching over the past several years I have noticed that we have shifted from the silent generation to the gen Z population. I have noticed the differences in attention span and communication. The silent generation very seldom asked questions but over the years the but why has increased because of the need to know generation. How will this help me? Do I really need to know this. It is very important to stay up to date with technology in the medical field as an instructor because things we taught five years ago may still be used… >>>

A well designed online course will have a variation of testing and comprehension methods. The online course should have more than just true or false questions because it does not allow students to formulate or recall information. Essays are harder to grade but it allows the instructor to see what the students understands.

The instructor needs to have well thought out questions that engage and motivate all students. Some students have a tendency to answer all the questions and in traditional setting there are several ways to handle. In an online environment we need to remember to allow all students time to formulate responses.

Generation X are usually the teachers for the Net Generation and sometimes it is hard to relate to something you don't understand. Students tend to be more motivated when they have an instructor who uses as much technology as possible.

Lessons plans that are well planned out should always have extra material available because we teach students that have different levels of knowledge. In order to keep students engaged and returning on time they need a reason. Students will tend to miss class when they know the instructor is only going to lecture and call it a night.
