About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Jonathan, yes, very true statement. We need to be aware of the different personalities & different learning styles in the classes we teach. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Tammy, yes, I've noticed this myself. You are very right about taking the missed questions personally & I have to consistently remind my students that this is not necessarily a commentary on them personally. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Jenny, yes, the more we can use a variety of approaches the more we will help all types of learners in our classes to gain what they can. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

James, unfortunately we don't always have control over the learning environment. But applause to you for looking at what you can change & impact for the learning benefit of all. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
James, yes, this is an excellent point & we need to give ourselves permission to experiment & try some of these new techniques & approaches. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
James, and I think a great way to do this is by showing them our willingness to help & showing that we care. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Elmer, these are all great suggestions that really demonstrate to the student that you care & want to help them. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Gabriel, this is a great idea. It can help you know if you can move on or if you need to review certain portions. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
