About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Activity

Johnnie, yes, group size needs to be carefully managed that all can participate & have a role. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Floyd, this is a great point & we have to remember that students in groups does not mean we can go do whatever we want. We must be engaged! Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Angelica, I really like this idea as it helps all evaluate & also each role to know what is expected of them. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Mitra, I don't think there's necessarily a better, both are very effective & appropriate depending on the situation. In some cases your students may not have had the experiences, so use your own. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Discussion Comment
Brittany, I like your emphasis on understanding the purpose of the goal. This often is overlooked & I know I can do it...but why should I? Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Lise, this is an excellent point & comment. The positive tone mixed with the confidence of the leader is essential. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Rebecca, and learning to appreciate these & understand them is key to success in today's environment. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Kathy, and the key is really listening & not just hearing. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Jason , this is a great point. While I shouldn't always have to do the work of my employees, I should be willing to do anything to help. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Greg, I've found this too & it's great! They really like to bounce ideas around as they try & experiment & then come to the conclusion. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
