About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Brian, I think this demonstrates the various uses to which we can put student groups. In your case, you wouldn't want a group welding, but you can use the groups to demonstrate. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
travis, this is a great point as it helps really show what these careers are all about & to get excited about the reality. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.

Edson, I like your statement about a better learning environment. That is not limited to the front of the room & by moving around I make the entire class that environment. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Nancy, I definitely am a big fan of humor or craziness as you said. Clearly it has to be appropriate & kept in balance, but it can really help at times. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
David, this is a great strategy as it allows the employee to own the solution to their own challenges. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Jonathan, I like these ideas, especially the one of asking the audience their concerns or thoughts. Generally they will be ideas you already have & it allows you to tailor (as you said) a little more. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Jacquelyn , this is the most comfortable method of communication for many of our students. And while this may be difficult for us, it may be helpful to them. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
jason, this is a great technique that is inexpensive & can really help certain parts of information off from others. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
jason, this is great as it helps your students see that you too are in the process of learning & growing every day. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
