Dr. Ryan Meers

About me

I have a passion for education and especially for ensuring that all of us continue to apply what we have learned.  I am excited about the opportunity that the Lounge provides for all of us to discuss how we are applying what we have learned & to share those great ideas.

I have had a varied background from secondary education to corporate training & now working in the career college sector.  But while I have moved in different circles it has always been surrounding my passion of education.  I look forward to our conversations.

Activity

Brandon, good point. I would not call a social network a learning tool, however helping students understand how to use some networks (i.e. LinkedIn) for career development is a good idea. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Dorothy, these are great methods as they help encourage critical thinking as well as learning the material. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Larry, glad it was helpful & it really is important to understand the makeup of the class as we prepare & present. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Doretha, this is a great observation & a way to use the music in the classroom. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
John, this is a great point as they will then engage more with their own learning & focus on how they can be successful. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
MaryEllen, this is a great advantage of the life experiences that we often overlook. It helps them see us as people. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Discussion Comment
Eric, and with the diversity it helps the students to learn to work with a variety of people as they will most likely be doing in this in their work settings. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Angela, this is one of the primary reasons to keep moving throughout the classroom. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
John, great point & these really are key to effective communication in the classroom. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Shelly, yes, & remember sometimes small segments of communicating are a great way to keep people in the loop to avoid too many big long meetings. Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
