James, Very interesting story.I find it fascinating that the "code" so to speak was for you to inquire about the employee's meds. In my experience, some may be offended by that and would actually prefer to discuss the actual behaviors. Thanks for sharing. Sarah Smoger

Mary, I completely agree. However, if a student meets admission criteria, regardless of if a student will be a successful professional in their chosen field of study, we are obligated under the law to let the student continue and reasonably accommodate them. Sarah Smoger

Colin, Great insight. I see many students that due to sheer laziness or lack of motivation are not successful in their chosen field of study-it has nothing to do with a disability. I think in the case of any student, their dedication, drive and desire to be successful is paramount. Sarah Smoger
Renee, You are so right. There are so many wonderful books and strategies that can be employed in a person's life that will enable them to be successful. As a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice, I specialized and worked with young children diagnosed with ADD/ADHD and their parents. Early intervention can make a huge difference. Lisa , I have run into this several times in the past. Occasionally, a student's disability is such that even with accommodations, they are unable to meet the technical requirements and program competencies. Sarah Smoger
