Deborah, This is great information. In addition, most publishers provide instructional resources that can be used as supplements with the course textbook. This typically includes: videos, PowerPoints, quizzes and interactive activities. Tremayne Simpson
Dorothy, I agree. In addition, it is a good general practice to summarize the course learning objectives and provide additional contexts, for the students. In most cases, learning objectives can be written in a complex manner, which can prove to be confusing for the students. Tremayne Simpson

Vicki, I agree. Lesson plans should be created with "flexibility", to provide the instructor with opportunities to implement spontaneous, innovative activities. Restrictive lesson plans do not allow the instructor to actively add material to the course. Tremayne Simpson
Dorothy, I agree. Class instructional techniques, must be diverse, in order to maximize student learning potential. Tremayne Simpson
roy, What types of projects do you assign for your students to build? Tremayne Simpson
Michael, I also do the same with my class. Later in the course, I present an assignment and ask them to tell me which learning objective it is connected to. This is a great system of reverse learning, which enables them to understand the full context of the presented concept. Tremayne Simpson
Abigail, I agree. Achieving "metacognition" may not occur in just one course. For some students, they will need to continuously develop critical thinking methods, over a sequence of classes or their entire course study. There have been many occasions where a graduate will approach me and say, "I finally understand the concept of______...it took me a while, but I understand the full context of the theory now". Tremayne Simpson
Ernestina, Students are always focused on"what's in it for me", with each course that they have to take. Therefore, instructors have to constantly remind them about how courses are aligned with programmatic outcomes and how that will lead to them being successful in their desired careers. Tremayne Simpson
Carol, I agree. That is why it is important that instructors do not become complacent and lose sight of their respective industries. Instructors must consistently seek professional development opportunities that can provide them with ideas that can be transferred and implemented in their course lesson plans. Tremayne Simpson

Michael, This is a great idea. Review is always necessary for students, especially in introductory courses. Lesson plans should be created with this in-mind. Tremayne Simpson
