Carl, I agree. Information Literacy is a cross-circular skill, in which students should always seek methods for improvement. Being able to locate resources and distinguish their credibility, will ultimately lead to the student being a more autonomous and prepared employee in their desired career field. Tremayne Simpson
Jeffrey, I have added a similar activity to my courses as well. I have the activity listed on the student portal discussion board, so that the students' research can be shared with their classmates and discussed. Tremayne Simpson
Andrea, Excellent point. In addition, the learning taxonomy can be used in a reverse manner as well. For instance, as an assessment tool, instructors will begin to see the incremental changes in student questions (from basic to advanced), as their understanding of the topic increases during the course. TJ, I agree, deviation from the lecture can bring more enthusiasm/excitement to the immediate discussion. Instructors should have pre-determined methods for ensuring that they are able to transition back to the actual topic and not continue to "stray away" the lesson. Tremayne Simpson
Jeffrey, I make sure to do this with my students as well. For some students, it is important that they are reminded of the sequential, structuring of courses and how they are aligned with their overall, programmatic outcomes. Tremayne Simpson
