About me

Activity

Taryn, I agree. Collaborative activities can serve as an alternative form of student assessment and a great opportunity to encourage student participation. In smaller groups, students are generally more comfortable with sharing their opinions and understanding of the class topic. Tremayne Simpson
Robert, This works well, as long as their are specific parameters for students, regarding the usage of personal electronic devices. Once guidelines have been set, the students will typically acknowledge them. Tremayne Simpson

Katie, In addition, the course syllabus should be added to the student portal in an electronic format. This is also a practice that can be used to save paper, by printing out copies for the entire class. Tremayne Simpson
William, I feel that it is important to offer Power Point training for students. Especially for newer students, that may not have experience with using electronic presentation software. Tremayne Simpson
Wardell, I think that it is a great idea to have the daily objectives listed on the board (for both students and instructors). Keeping a visual display of the lesson plan, can assist in limiting the amount of "off topic" discussions, that may occur during the lecture. Tremayne Simpson

Mike, It is great that you have an open relationship with your class. It is very important for instructors to establish an excellent rapport with their students. Once this relationship is established, students will be candid in their responses and will be genuinely more engaged with the course. Tremayne Simpson

Mike, Do you find that the majority of your students are "candid" with their responses? Tremayne Simpson
Patrick, Forgive me if you have mentioned it in one of the other Forums, but what is your field of instruction? Tremayne Simpson
Cynthia, I agree. In addition, documented lesson plans are generally presented to accreditors, to serve as evidence for a multitidue of criteria areas. Tremayne Simpson
William, I agree. I am always careful to not create exams that are simply enabling the students to "list" or "sort" particular topics or terminology. When they memorize items, they typically cannot recall them, once they have finished the exam. This will not help them when they enter the career world. Tremayne Simpson
