Amanda, This is a great method for ensuring that your students are aware of the course learning objectives. In many cases, the "verbiage" that is used to create teh learning objectives may be confusing for students and instructors may need to clarify or revise them. Providing them with daily expectations/plans, can provide them with clarity. Tremayne Simpson
jim, It is a great idea to create a topic-based curriculum group. With this group you can discuss common student trends and available resources. Tremayne Simpson

Colleen, I also use the "Democratic" process, whenever deciding class-related suggestions. In most cases, when students are given a choice, they will place an "intrinsic" value on the topic in question. Tremayne Simpson
Joseph, In my opinion, instructional freedom is a paramount concept. However, I feel that standardization of syllabi is an effective operational practice, which can ensure consistency in every course. Tremayne Simpson

Freddie, I agree. It is important that the questions require a combination of application of the lectured/assigned material and student opinion. In other words, the question/answer session should be used as a mere "time waster", however it should be used to gage student comprehension and expand their knowledge of the topic. Tremayne Simpson

Fedele, I would imagine that it is highly important to keep additional materials for a class that is this duration and meets for the entire week. What methods do you use to keep your students on task and focused for the entire class session? Tremayne Simpson

Jennie, Just for clarity, are these Hispanic-American students or international students? Tremayne Simpson
jim, Providing your students with additional resources is an excellent way to adhere to varying learning styles. In addition, interesting resources can increase their enthusiasm for the subject. Tremayne Simpson

Michelle, I like the idea of having "bonus" demonstrations and discussions. These can be used in situations when the class (collectively) are not focused on their projects and may need to be directed back to the selected topic. Tremayne Simpson
Diane, These are great methods for accomodating various learning styles. In addition, using initiative in your methods can diversify your instructional approach. Using multiple formats can also increase the student enthusiasm and perception of the course. Tremayne Simpson
