Clyde, I agree with these methods, for accomodating various student learning styles. I try to use a compilation of these methods, within every lecture in order to maximize the student retention of information. Ironically, I have found that many of my students diversify their learning styles once they experience a lecture, with a multi-faceted presentation concept. Tremayne Simpson

Michael, Do you find that the "one-on-one" approach for receiving student input, is more effective than a group format? Tremayne Simpson
neelam, Do the instructors at your institution collaborate and share lesson plans? Tremayne Simpson
Tammy, Differentiating strategies is an effective method for adhering to multiple learning styles. Are you able to diversify your methods in all aspects of the class (lecture, assignments, assessments, etc.)? Tremayne Simpson
Cynthia, This is a great exercise for developing a relationship with your students. Although there are many support systems available for students (student services, academic advisors, etc.), they still look to their instructors for important educational and career guidance. Tremayne Simpson
Michael, This is an effective approach for properly identifying prior student knowledge. I always advise faculty to teach the "feeder" pre-requisite courses, prior to taking on the advanced-level classes. With this method the instructor can better understand the course sequencing and expected student skill transitions. Tremayne Simpson
neelam, What is your method for addressing students that are not well-versed in the previously learned material? Tremayne Simpson
Roxsie, Excellent. I find that you receive more "candid" answers, when the students are aware that the quiz does not count toward their grade. Tremayne Simpson
