Hi Kim, we also include information about policies regarding time away from the classroom and making up assignments and include information on how the instructor will engage in the course. Tina
Hi Kim, we have found that students have very high expectations about response times to emails or request for phone calls. Most learners expect a response within hours!! Tina
Hi Kim, I think that we are becoming a virtual society, so I believe that the demand for online learning will continue to rise. Tina
Hi Kim, what information do you include in your faculty expectations? Tina
Hi Robin, in my institution we have as many as 27 students in a single class. It can be challenging, but we are now considering the use of TAs to reduce the load on faculty. Tina
Hi Fredrik, it seems that most institutions are moving to some form of online instruction to help overcome limited resources. Tina
Hi Gelena, I agree, it is very important to acknowledge the learner and try to understand the reasons behind the behavior. I also encourage my faculty to pick up the phone and call the learner to resolve issues quickly. Tina
Hi Hima, I think so too. It's large enough to form groups, but small enough to manage the large number of interactions you have with individual students. Tina
Hi Melissa, the faculty in the psychology program have been engaging students by helping them build their critical thinking skills. The faculty ask probling questions, take opposing positions to stretch their thinking, ask them to consider assumptions and implications, etc. It has been an effective way to engage learners in the discussion at higher levels. Tina
Hi Melissa, I agree. Especially with the responsibility of reaching out to inactive learners. There is much more pressure put on the online instructor to do everything in their power to engage inactive learners. Tina
