Hi Janet, actually the nursing programs across the country have been delivering some very effective online courses. They are actually ahead of other disciplines in their ability to effective utilize the online environment using simulation technology. Tina
Hi Janet, we actually have more learners in the course sections when they are new to online learning because of the large attrition. Tina
Hi Joan, we currently are moving to a 30:1 ratio; however, it is challenging trying to give feedback to that many learners on a regular basis! Tina
Hi Kendra, we have found that if you don't include specific requirements for interactions with other students, they will not interact. Tina
Hi Glenn, I am interested in comment "Helping student's to understand that learning is about personal e xperience versus the opinions of others is an integral component of online learning." In my program, we work to help learners understand that there are multiple perspectives on issues and help them build skills to be able to critically evaluate the opinions of others and the evidence they use to support their ideas in order to make decisions about what to believe. Tina
Hi Glenn, what we have found is that the online environment, which is highly textual, may not be the best learning environment for students who have poor reading and writing skills. Tina
Hi Glenn, do you feel the online environment will help overcome the learning issue? Tina
Hi Glenn, yes, I agree. In the program I manage we use the Elder Paul Model of Critical Thinking to help learners think critically in discussions. Tina
Hi Sherrilyn, we keep the syllabus separate from the faculty expectation statement. The purpose of the expectation statement is to make certain that learners understand exactly what is expected of them in the online environment as well as what they can expect from you. Tina
