Tactile learners
I have many tactile learners and need to find a balance so that my tactile and my audio/visual students can co-work at the same time. I find one group gets distracted when we are using the other styles of teaching.
Eunita,
It's great when circumstances allow for matching students with different learning styles to be seated together. Even students with similar styles can reflect off each other, but when one trait is more dominant that helps the diversity of the group setting.

It is good to put a tactlie learner and a visual learner together to work on projects. The tactile learner must do hand on types of things and the visual learner must see it. They will make a great team.
Edith,
Yes, each student probably posses a dominate learning style, and if we can identify that, we can use it for the benefit of the student, yielding to their natural strength.

Using a variety of teaching styles within one course allows for students who excel with one style to take a strong lead in teaching the others the content, process, and application of the material. The next topic can be taught with a different style, which allows different students to take the lead in teaching the others. Continuing that process of cycling styles allows that each student can have an opportunity by the end of the course to have been in the drivers seat in teaching the others. Everyone gets the chance to lead and to follow.
Pamela ,
I think we all have a bit of the different learning style preferences, although I'd agree one or two are probably dominant. Variety can help. Knowing what and how our students learn helps. Engaging students through involvement in their own learning is also a good way to capture all of our students in allowing them to express themselves in the manner they are most comfortable with.
