Instructor Competencies

Definitions are so important in healthcare education, for reasons of commom/mutual understanding, and for continuity within a learning situation. The breakdown and identification of these three areas of "Instructor Competencies" is helpful in building a "map" of key instructor qualities, to help insure competency within the classroom... not only for the instructor, but also for the quality of education provided to the students.

Dr. Meers, Thank you for your kind words.
Key: Self-education is as important as student education. In my learning experience as an instructor, it is not so much to teach, as it is to grow with the students and guide the way. Without successful communication utilizing the commonality of appropriate terms/language, method, direction and a way (i.e the road map), producing positive outcomes would be difficult. With qualified instructors developing quality "Instructor Competencies", we are more likely and able to meet the goals and objectives of higher education... as you stated, "for the benefit of everyone". Thank you again for all you do to help see that this is accomplished.

Hi Marti,
Right you are about the way competencies break out for the benefit of everyone. This way the students know what is required and the instructor has the "road map" of the educational journey that will be undertaken during the course.
