To enhance your instructional style ,you need to know the styles of the students.
Cappriccieo,
The key is to make everything generational/age appropriate even if you are using techniques that are used at other levels of teaching. I use many elementary school strategies in my college courses because they are very effective and engaging. I select generational/age appropriate examples and projects and then integrate them into my college level delivery.

Yes, I recall this approach in high school, but I am not sure how well it will go over teaching college students. However, I generally don't expect to need to speak with college students the same way as high school students.
Peyman,
My opinion on the use of technology is use it where it fits into your instructional style and delivery. To use technology for the sake of technology is not an effective learning strategy. Technology should be used where it can reinforce the delivery of content. This may mean very little technology or a lot depending on the content being taught. In my courses I use a small amount of technology due to the content I offer.

Doug,
I would suggest that you do a introduction and ice breaker type activity at the beginning of the course. I have found that I learn so much about the students during this session and then I can customize my instructional delivery based upon this knowledge.

Michael,
This is a professional and encouraging way to have discussions and get every student involved. This is how everyone will contribute to the value of the content through meaningful discussions.

Beryl,
Yes, it is. The more connection you can make between the content and the individual lives of students the greater the engagement will be for the students.

Use real world experience to help teach the students
While reviewing the information that was presented in the lecture, I found many interesting techniques that can and will be used to enhance my instructional style. As an instructor I have realized that all students learn differently. Therefore, I will use various techniques of instruction that will cater to all students. In addition, I do plan on using more visual aid so students can see as well as gain a better understanding of the learning process. I also will attempt to become more of a motivator to help encourage my students to become more technologically savvy. This will help each student to do more research as well as enhance his or her understanding that pertains to the subject of instruction.

Possible techniques could be to observe students personalities and personalize to fit them.

What's your opinion on using high tech devices in classrooms ,keeping up with technology, for teaching, researches, and problem solving? Despite we are in 21st century and technology is moving faster than we can imagine, there are still schools or classes that are against using such devices.
I'm a brand new instructor at this level - I have a style that I teach within my industry, but I feel the need to assess the class a bit. Any suggestions to get a feel for the class?
When I teach I like to keep the tone of the discourse conversational and try to stay professional yet friendly. I feel the more at ease a student is in the class the more active they are with the materials.
Understanding the environment from which your student derive from and using scenarios that students can relate t,o would be a good way of enhancing instructional style.
Hi Nieva,
This is a good technique to employ as this will help students grasp concepts more quickly and be able to related it to their current or future career.
Marina,
I wish you much success as you step into this wonderful field of teaching. You have a good start on success with the knowledge you have along with your career experience. Happy Teaching.

I have not yet taught a class yet but I've learned alot about engaging students, having them read power points, relating your subject matter to real world experiences, and having them express personal experiences.
Debra,
By sending the point home that cell phones can be cause for dismissal at work you are helping yourself by letting your students know you are getting them ready for successful employment by having them practice being cell phone free while in class.

I have found that cell phones are very disruptive. They are to be turned off when in my class room. Many Hospitals will fire you if they see you on your cell phone when you are on the clock.
To come up with a good lesson plan and get to learn the ability of each student.
