I show enthusiasm for a topic that I teach

I think it is sometimes hard to gauge how we are perceived by others, so it might be helpful to video record myself during an actual class I am instructing so that I can view it later and analyze what kind of energy I am projecting. I did this as a college student doing a mock interview, and it offered me a lot of insight into how to improve my interview persona. I agree that projecting enthusiasm for the class content is key to gaining and keeping student interest and motivation.

I like to do alot of hands on demonstration it keeps the students focus as well as using my teaching format for my class. My students response very well.

I would describe how students will participate in class and set the goals they need to accomplish to succeed in the course. I would give pretest to ascertain the entrance knowledge and skills of the students. I would clearly state the knowledge and the skills required to successfully complete the class. I would establish guidelines for their performance. In addition, I would define the level of proficiency that is required. I would incorporate all modes of learning in my presentations – kinesthetic, written, oral, and visual.

I learnt that there are 4 styles of learning. I am going to remind myself that I should use these styles. I teach ultrasound and in our syllabi and curriculum students are in lectures, in the lab, and attend clinical sites. I teach the didactic and lab portion of the clas. Thus the 4 major styles are included in the courses. Now I have to refine and improve these styles of learning

To further enhace my instructional style, I would increase my use of the chalkboard by writing questions, comments, and terms at the beginning of the class so students will have more time to concentrate on their responses.

I will always challenge myself to be creative every time I go to class. I avoid presenting a canned presentation. I will engage the students right from the first minute of class by asking them to add their own topics to the class agenda for that day. I will ask about their expectations from today's class... and more.

I think to further develop and refine my style, it's important to seek input from other instructors and to always keep up to date with my content knowledge. As I have been teaching for a number of years, and often the same subject(s), it can be easy to become stale. I know that at times I even get bored with a particular lesson or activity. That's when I know it's time for a change! As far as style goes, I love the Harvard instructor's advice about not trying to prove that you are the smartest person in the room. At first, that's all I had. I didn't have a style, or feel like I could let my personality shine through. Now, I feel that I've found a perfect balance as an instructor of being their "friend" and mentor, but not their "pal"

I know my boredom level is very high. I must keep mixing up classroom dynamics. Continuing education helps me feel sharp, fresh, new and current.

Thats right, i also bring into my students attention some real successful story and accomplesments by some of my previous students who are already at the practice field.

I also update my knowledge on day to day basis over the new researches to bring it to the classroom for forthe motivation of my students

i agree, showing enthusiasm, and high level of energy on the subject gives the students positve energy, and motivates them for learning also

I would review literature, talk with educators, and read instructors preparation texts to be better instructor

with regards of rflecting the mission and phylosophy of my college, i use an instuctional style that is inconsistent with the needs of my students, providing my quality education to my students, applying my knowledge, and skills to the best of my students, and using common sense, to become a high quality educator.

Role playing can be a very powerful tool. It helps the students see things from a different perspective.

Class management is very important to a successful class and learning.

I agree to help me get better, I need to observe others and learn.

It is an important learning to tool to see what others are doing, so one could gleen some knowledge and incorportate the best practices to their class.

True, observation is good, but I feel the more the actual involment with the students take place the better and instructor becomes.

I think the more workshops we attend and become more aware of adult learning styles the more effective we become.
