If I know the preferred learning styles of my students I can help them learn better by catering to their different learning styles with different methods of instruction. If I only do one type of instruction, I will not be reaching all of the students.
helps the instructor plan how to deliver the course contents to the students effectively.
Hi Kristie- Thanks for your post to the forum. You have it exactly right! Your delivery is addessing all the learning styles. Great work! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
I start my lesson by lecturing and add written explaination on the board, ask questions of students to keep involved and use video to reemphysize important points and then have open question and answer period.
By knowing the learning styles of our students we can be more effective in delivering material to them. Incorporating powerpoints with pictures and text addresses the needs of the visual and written word learners. Lecturing while presenting the powerpoints addresses the auditory learners. Adding class activities with demonstrations will help the tactile/kinesthetic learners.
Absolutly. It also hleps us as instructors to convay matterials more effectivly.
Knowing the learning styles of your students can be helpful because, you are better equipt to reach and teach every studnet on a level that they can understand.
Helps me know what type of resources to provide to my students for there individual learning styles if practical
People learn in different ways. Just as we prefer different hair styles, clothing styles, managerial styles, and music styles, we also feel much more natural and comfortable acquiring information in ways that fit our preferred "styles" of learning.
Knowing your preferred learning styles can help you choose a career or make a career change, acquire new information faster by setting up optimal learning situations, choose satisfying leisure activities, identify compatible relationships with less trial and error, and explain yourself to others.
This is helpful in helping my student gain confidence because they are given the information in a way they can retain.
Students learn at different paces and in different ways. Instructors need to make sure that they deliver their course materials in a way the fits the needs and most effective learning styles for all students. This is something that as a graduate course (MBA) professor, I need to work on continually. I tend to learn by written word and auditory input. I am less hands-on and visual. That means I need to pay particular attention to the learning styles of my students who are more hands on and visual.

I feel that by having an understanding and by identifying the necessary learning styles of your students. They will retain necessary information with proper application by the instructor.
The benefits are that you can asses how you are going to structure the class lectures and in class assignments while increasing the percentage of students who grasp what you are teaching.
Hi Gerald- Thanks for your post to the forum. i agree, forming groups with diverse learning styles is a great idea. It gets them used to working in groups like they will encounter in the workplace. Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Isabel- Thanks for your post to the forum and for sharing that link to the teaching styles inventory. I intend to share it with our faculty tomorrow! Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
Hi Dave - Absolutely! The less frustration our students feel, the more likely, as you mention, they will continue with their education. Best wishes! Susan
The benefits to the teacher is in the area of lesson planning and preparation of educational delivery. Increased performance in this area will help increase the amount of learning for the student, students desire to persist in the learning environment and increase the probability of the student continuing to want to with further education.
Knowing the learning styles of your students is huge because it helps you deliever your information in a way that they will understand and gain from. Doing so will help you be a more effective instructor by getting your material acrossed and helping the students out.
