Knowing the learning styles of my students enable me to present material in different ways in order to reach the students

I would like to ask if you could recommend some online resources for free learning style assessment I could use in my classroom

Know how each of your students learn will help me in the way I deliver my information. Unfortunately I do not always have the time that it would take for such an assesment.

It can help you incorporate new teaching techniques to the classroom/lab setting. This in turn helps you as an instructor hone your teaching skills and hopefully will lead to you being a better instructor for your students.

I will be a very effective instructor when I use all the learning styles of my students in my delivery of the class lectures. All of my students will definitely learn something if I include of their preferred learning styles.

HI LeAnn - I never assume ANYTHING with my students because there are always exceptions even in the food industry! Best wishes- Susan

knowing there stlyes of learning can help organize how to disseminate the information to them

The instructional benefits of knowing the learning styles of students is key when delivering the lecture or information content to the class.

In my classes, I try to mix it up and provide as many ways to present the content - I read from the text(s), present PowerPoint presentations, show videos and if needed, get students involved physically by getting them out of their seats and presenting the information themselves.

Knowing the learning styles of each student makes you a better instructor as it challenges you as the instructor to teach curriculum to a very diverse audience.

The instructional benifits of knowing the learning styles of students is that I can understand how best to deliver the information so that they can learn. This knowledge can be used to help me become a more effective instructor by making the information that I teach more accesable to my students.

Having the ability to recognize different learning styles helps in reaching the whole class. Being able to "switch things up" while on one subject can also help learners perceive in different styles, making them in turn more diverse in learning abilities.

Will keep your students attention and will help with student and professor relation. If the student can relate it will also aid in their learning

The benefits of knowing the learning styles of my students would be to know how to get the information to the student that is struggling.

Analyzing the learning styles of students through a combination of exercises early-on can provide a successful delivery of course content

Have you found that the assumption that learners are hands on until you have clarity works in all environments or is specific to food industry learning?

I think it is very important to know how your students learn; because then you are able to be a more effective teacher in the classroom or online. I teach online math courses and I have found it is beneficial to ask students what they would like to learn at the beginning of class and if there is anything specific they need to be successful in the “virtual” world. By having this knowledge I am able to make changes each quarter to “reach” all of my students.

As a chef instructor, virtually anything I cover in class has the advantage of becoming interactive and visual. This opens up many different options for different learning styles; we can talk about the subject, I can do a demo of a particular proficiency, and lastly the students can practice kinesthetic learning by doing it themselves.

Knowing the learning styles of your student gives the instructor the necessary tools to effectively deliver course information. If the student is not able to learn in the manner in which they are accustomed to, they simply will not be successful.

definately knowing that all students learn differerently so therefore you have to be creative in your teaching skills.

I agree. Utilizing varied methods of delivery helps with to retain the attention of the students more effectivly.

As an instructor our goal is deliver information the most effective way possible. Our students often learn through different avenues of delivery. Our knowledge of different learning styles helps the student recieve and retain information which will be helpful in their success.
