Formative evaluation.
I always have students that gripe about how often there are quizzes and how long they are. I feel these benefit the students. They know if they are on track and I am able to determine if I am being efficient in my teaching.

I tried to give tests that are similar in length to their state licensing exam. I want to prepare them as much as possible. In one of my classes, I will give 2-4 tests in a day, each test has a different number of questions but I feel that if I can give them as many variety of questions, they will become better prepared.
Hi Connie - Thanks for your post to the forum. I always emphasize that having shorter and more frequent quizzes is much better than only one or two comprehensive exams.Best wishes for continued success in your teaching career. Susan
