Completion Test are not used often.
I have been in school working on my master for the last year. I can not remember learning or using this type of test. One thing we must do is create a course online for the undergraduates using what we have learned as our test.

Completion tests and online tests are not compatible. Unfortunately most testing software (i.e. Blackboard) is set up to look for one answer. Using a capital vs. lowercase letter or adding an 's' can create a error when the answer is actually correct. It is also important to spell the answer correctly.
This type of testing is generally not seen, at least in my experience, past high school. It is, however, an effective tool to assess actual retention.
