Khalid,
Students like hearing stories of what their instructors have done in their professional lives. Helps students to value the content and expertise that is being shared with them.

I would share with my students that what i learned and gained during my professinal life.
I used real life examples.
example of motivational techniques is to make practical classes, in my anatomy class introduce such real anatomical parts, thus the theoretical to applied practice, also do the different test in the laboratory, there is no way to reinforce what you learned practice
almost always it is logical to clarify the objectives of the course and to convey that information clearly to students, then you have to motivate the class or put enthusiasm and transmit it to students, it is important to clarify the future use of this knowledge that will to acquire in their working lives, so they feel it makes sense what they do, then identify the types of students, their type of intelligence and make a strategy work, so I grupor balanced work in class.
Arthur,
Good point. We want them to become invested in the class and their own learning. They need to see value from what they are being asked to learn.

Getting students involved and make them feel that they are part of something that matters and helps them achive where thy are headed in life.
Liset,
As you know students love stories about their field. Sharing your own career experiences is a good way to keep their interest. I use a lot of guest speakers to reinforce what I am teaching them because the guest speakers tell it like it is. After they speak my classes are always motivated for a period of time because they can see how the content being offered is real.

I talk to the students about my professional experience, the guest speaker is a really good option , sometimes I show them amazing materials about inspiring persons.
I too teach my students as individuals rather then as instructor to student. This seems to work well.
Shirley,
Students love stories from your work experience, don't they. I know mine always perk up when I give them an examples of the content we have just covered in a situation that I have experienced in my work life.

Teachers that understand student motivation can greatly enhance the classroom experience and student performance. For example giving students an opportunity to practice skills in a nonpunitive environment.
I bring into the class real life experiences from when I worked in the doctor's office. They like hearing about things that they will soon be doing.
Also I let them help teach the class. Let them buy into the class preparation, test making, and just getting envolved. By letting them know that this is their class and I want them to know that we are in it together.
Colleen,
Good way to get students engaged in the learning process. You are helping them to see they have a future if they are willing to put forth the effort.

I always start with having the students set short and long term goals. I also share my
experiences with the students to help with the motivation.
Sami,
I use games in my class and my students really like the competition. One of their favorites is Jeopardy. I use it when reviewing for upcoming tests. The students really get fired up in answering the questions and wining points for their team.

Harriet,
They sure to. As you know they really perk up when you share some experience you have had that is related to the topic being discussed and you tell them how you handled a problem or person. This gives relevancy to what is being studied.

splitting the class into two group and run some kind of competion in answering questions.
Opportunities to experience in teh field expeiriences that you have prepared.
Student like to hear about the experiences of their instructors as they relate to the course content.
