Fun in the class
i like to have good learning-good training plus some fun also .
I really like the idea of having a little fun in the class room. It is very hard to learn and retain anything that is boring. Keeping the students engaged is hard so a fun enviroment keeps them interested and encourages them to participate.
What do you have without creating a fun envorment, well said above! thanks
Patricia,
Thank you for sharing your game! That sounds like a lot of fun and like you stated, students can get a little bored with doing the same routine over and over. I think that this makes the environment fun and above all, the students are learning!
Yolanda,
I like the variety of activities you are bringing into your classroom. All of these options will enhance the engagement of your students while increasing the retention rate.

In my classes, I have a lot of group activities, which consist of sharing and interacting with all the students in the group. I have personality assessment, and exercises on the computer to allow students to see what type of learner they are as well as their personality type. They enjoy these activities, and learn something about themselves as well.
I have made a game out of learning. After covering material in a computer class, I have the students divide into two teams. The students have to line up at the board. I start the teams with a word like laptop. The students each have to come up with a word that starts with my word's ending. So their word has to start with a "p". They write their words on the board, making sure the words are related to the material. Each following the format, once done, they move to the end of their line. They work hard at trying to beat the other team. They are allowed to help each other with spelling since that can be a problem spot. It builds teamwork and gets them out of their seats (just as they are starting to fade). Once done, they are amazed at how much they have learned.
