My desk!
I think each week my to do list must say that I need to organize my "piles." I don't have the insecurity problems with my desk, as I am one of those people who works better with stacks of things on my desk that are a priority. The problem comes for me when I move a stack to a far corner of my desk and forget about it. These stacks then begin to pile up, and before I know it, I have a teeny tiny work space. I need to make "having an efficient work space" a priority on my to do list.
I think it's a good idea to move the "pile" after you've completed the task. I'll try that.
Yes Michelle, instructors like you have to balance having the organized chaos you need while maintaining the organized image that others like to see.
I feel the same way! With my "organized chaos" system, I know where to look to find any information I may need. Once I "organize" my desk, it takes much longer to find anything. However, I feel somewhat insecure about my "mess" as co-workers often comment on it. I also need to clear a space if someone comes in to talk to me, which I feel could be perceived as unprofessional. It's a fine line, as I feel an empty desk doesn't send a very positive image either.
I am the exact same way! I do not think I am insecure about my "messy" or stacks of piles on my desk. I can always find things when I need to. The problem is when I do organize it is suppose to make everything more efficient, but I get the opposite results. It takes me longer to locate things and then I look very disorganized, especially when I have a student or coworker waiting on me - completely defeats the purpose.
Yes, listing priorities really does help us focus on the most important tasks first.
i agree with you ,a prioroty list must be made so that the urgent or the important thing will be delt with earliar and if pile ocurr it will be of least important thing.
I agree with you to certin extend because life is moving and during the day a new issue may arrise which was not planed for , this issue may change your planes
I agree with you completly
Yes, I am the same way. I am not insecure about it either, at least I don't think I am, but I have had people mention the piles on my desk. I usually know where to find everything though. I think my problem is just finding a place to put all the piles of paper-I don't want to throw away something that may be important in the future!
Every time I mark something off my "To Do List", I manage to clean something off my desk. So by the end of the day, my list is complete and my desk is clean.. :)
