Instructors Organization
I find that when I am organized and have all my ducks in a row, my class runs much smoother. I feel less stressed and the students seem to follow suit. They grasp the lesson more efficently.
Yes Cecilia I agree. Organization does reduce your stress and have big effects on your responses to yourself and others. When you are stressed you do not respond effectively or communicate effectively.
I try to lead by example. Most of the time things go smooth. It becomes very effective as I have copies of all handouts prepared prior to the start of the course. I review all my material the day prior to the class. If changes need to be made I have these done on that day. Im able to catch the concerns, edit and add additional material.
Cordelia, We must lead by example and I think you really understand that. When our students see us in a disorganized state, it does not make a good impression. It also does not help them. They need people to model after, organized people, so they can leverage what they learn from us in school and in life.

I would have to agree with you on that one. When I am organized not only does my class run so much more smoother, but my students understand the necessity of of being organized. I feel that I can't teach my students to be organized if I am not organized myself.
I am looking forward to organzing my desk. After ten years of teaching, it has become neglected. I am looking forward to the time I will save myself.
I always give myself a little prep time before every class which always helps me have a smooth start.
Corey, Great question! Another suggestion is streamlining class content to make it easier to use again and again each semester. This reduces preparation time and, in some cases, eliminates it altogether.

I agree with you that preparation BEFOREHAND will make your life easier. Any other suggestions?
I also arrive early, I make sure the classroom is ready and all of the equipment I need is there. Even when I think I have organized everything sometime it just does not work out and I feel that I do not have it together
Yes being organized sets a good example for out students. the moment they see we are nopt prepared they will loose attention and respect. we should lead by example

George, That's a great strategy. Getting on top of things early can give you the great start you need to be successful throughout the day. On the flip side, I find that if I arrive even 15 minutes later than scheduled, it can have a cascade effect that impacts every appointment and task that I'm scheduled to complete next.

Organization is key to the success of any class.
i arrive very ear;y in the morning to ensure that my students and my kitchen are in order.
i agree...when i am organized...my day/week runs smoother!
I feel the same way. If I am organized and well prepared, I feel good and I think that reflects on the students as well.
