New Class Prep

I find it easier to prepair a daily schedule before a new class starts . It saves a huge amount of time throughout the quarter to complete all the other tasks that are required.

i ususally review the syl. and rearrange the course the was i prefer to teach it giving me the opportunity to cover more complex issues for a longer period of time and using some topics only for discussion in order to focus on what i feel is most valuable

Vester, You raise an important point. We've got to bring flexibility to our schedules and open minds. Sometimes students need extra time to process complex course material. When this happens, it's good to be able to give them that time by having built in a time buffer for such things.

I agree, this is a huge time saver. However, what strategies do you use to ensure adequate time is available for remediation or clarification of more difficult topics...without having lumps of time scheduled without clear set activities or objectives? The biggest advantage to not planning out the entire course, is it allows you to tailor things to how your students are doing.
