A Instructor

An instructor needs to complete all of their tasks to maintain a balance of controling their class room grading assignmments and enjoying their students

Elinore, Sounds like you have a great system in place. I should note that family itself is truly some of our most important work! So focusing on that in the evening time counts as getting the most important things accomplished.

Dr. Read-
I agree. Even though I like to get all of my work done before the next day, I also have a family at home. I make sure I manage my time by making sure all of my important work is completed and sometimes wait to complete other work that does not need to me done right away.

Andrew, That sounds like a tough situation. Many instructors find that when they take work off campus, they are able to be more productive in completing it. This also gives them the flexibility to find the best work environment. Sounds like you have to be really regimented and diligent about your work.

Working at a institution were we can not take any work off campus I find I have to make sure I keep up with the paperwork otherwise it takes you over

When I have assignments from my class, I wait until I am home to go through them. I find that this gives me more time to read what the student has given me, comment on their work, and have more time in the classroom for any student that has questions or problems. Sometimes, it does take away from my "me time" but I feel that I am not rushed to get something finished.

Francine, I would say this is mostly true. It's good to be largely on top of our tasks. However, it's ok to let go every now and then and save a few things until tomorrow.
