I like the idea of having the students place the answers to their test questions out in the margins so that the answers may be more easily read.
I am fortunate that my schools offers a scan tran for the teachers. This saves time when it comes to grading all the tests. I just have to be sure to remind the students that they need to fill in the circles as dark as they can.
Michael, Some instructors have developed a wonderful and efficient system for teaching and grading in their courses. If you're one of them, simply keep up the great work and address efficiency challenges as any arise in the future.

I personaly don't like true or false. I feel it does not challege the student enough. I use alot of essay because the student can explain to me in their own word what they learned from the text.
The way my classes are set up there is not really any thing that could be streamlined it is pretty simple unless you are running two classes you either work off the clock or you try to fined some help
Hi. I like to use all multiple choice exams now, but in different formats. Having an answer key is great and using the above format. Before I used to make my own exams, but all fill-ins and it was very tedious. I have learned now, I can still make my own style exams with multiple choice in various ways, which ar much easier to correct and save plenty fo time.
Philippe, Interesting finding. This is not something that I've heard before from others who have taken this course, but it's really helpful. Yes, looking back through my years of teaching and grading, this is consistent with my experiences as well.

Heather, Sounds like you are already implementing a lot of best practices from this course. Great work! I like how you mention student grading - as it has so many benefits. My favorite benefit is the feedback and learning that takes place during the process. It's a great time saver as well.

Grading labs can use up a lot of time If you read every line on every lab. I have found by experience that most student make the same mistakes in the same areas on the lab sheet.I will quickly scan the whole lab & then grade more closely the areas of the lab that students find challenging.
I have recently incorporated answer sheets for my students. That is, they have the test booklet, but record all their answers on a separate sheet in an organized way. They are also given clear instructions on how to complete the answer sheet. This allows me to grade the answers very quickly. Many students are happy to oblige when they understand it means I can return their tests faster. Some courses require essay questions in order to properly assess student learning. I ask students to keep it simple. "Don't write a book" is a quote I use regularly! This helps them to answer their questions briefly. Typically, I have a small class size, which allows for quick grading of essay questions. Further, I have a bulleted list of possible answers or key points for essay questions that I can skim student answers for.
I usually give multiple choice and true/false tests because they are relatively easy to grade. During class I have the students grade their own homework and I collect the homework papers and give them the grade awarded to them. i do some essay/short answer questions and I feel they are better than the essay like questions.
I teach IT and exams and quizzes are graded. Onlinebut I grade. Homework myself. Although this is not a 50/50 it is however a good itself time.
I will format my exams based upon True/False and multiple choice questions
My exams have already been set up as multiple choice/true-false or fill in a blank types. I already use this for most of my homework assignments. I cannot use the suggestion of having students grade assignments of others. Each student should be permitted the privacy involved in his/her own grades.
Robert, Interesting approach. On one hand, we want to make sure we always provide value in evaluation exercises. On the other, we must think critically about how we focus our assessments to provide the greatest value.

Charles, Yes, grading batches of similar exams in large chunks can be much more efficient than grading multiple kinds of exams. Sometimes, the order that we choose to accomplish tasks dramatically impacts how efficient and effective we are at completing them in a timely manner.

William, Cross words are great. It's wonderful to be able to incorporate these and other games into the classroom and learning exercises. I find these methods lead to much higher engagement and faster learning as a result.

how i grade my labs is i will seperate them so i will have all same type so can stream line on grading
Our testing are all pre-set, and we can not change them. I also use Study guides, and games before the tests to check their progress. I also use crosswords and other inline material.
I am in a trade school. The supporting manufacture provides test questions and a color in the bubble answer sheet. we use a transparanct to quickly grade the test, which works very well with 20 students.
