It's sort of like taking a trip to somewhere you haven't been before; the better the road map, the more likely you are to reach your destination in the shortest amount of time.
I agree this is a great way to stay on top of things and save time when you know where everything is and it is easily accessable if you are out for example: Itwould be easy for any other instructor to cover for you.
Agree, I prepare a calendar from day 1,until class is completed, most of the time I do not have change, students like this method. If absent they test in advance
Being organized for me is having a familiar pattern which enables me to know where I am and where I need to go to accomplish my daily goals.
I enjoy giving my lectures far more when I know that I am fully prepared for them. The students can sense if you are prepared as well. I make notes after each lecture where I left off and what I would like to discuss in the next lecture. Between the two days of classes I tend to add in new current events as well.
Being organized makes you feel secure and there is a sense of control, which I think makes for a seamless delivery of the material.
Yes,Yes and Yes! organization is one of the keys to every instructor. I makesure before i go into a class im very organized. Cause if i dont my students will be the same way!
I've always based my lectures in the classroom with the motto "50% knowledge and 50% presentation" Effective organazation in the classroom is when students are confident in your knowledge and command of the material along with professional presentation and that starts with a structure or road map for them to follow.

Justian, I absolutely agree. It is also important to lead by example. This is one of the best ways students learn from us. So showing students what being organized looks like provides a wonderful learning experience.
