many people tend to take their work home with them in a mental way. It is best that when you enter your home that their is a seperation between work and personal life.

Because I am teaching online, all of my work is done at home. I make a very strong distinction in separating my personal life with my teaching responsibilities. I never work around meal time, and I generally reserve early evening hours for family, friends, and personal things. It doesn't always work that way, but I make a concerted effort to keep personal life separate from my teaching assignment.

Yes, I think this is an important perspective Joel.

I agree with Cory 100%. We have to maintain stability in our personal and work lives and this way works best for me. I collect a salary at work, when at home i don't get paid.

Yes, this is the best approach Cory. For many instructors, this is easier said than done. For many people, it really takes practice to be able to turn off thoughts about work when you're not there.

It sounds like you are in an incredibly stressful situation Rosemary. I know it's hard, but do try to take breaks, no matter how small.

That's easier said than done. I am the program chair for cosmetology, our clinic and classes run from 8:30am until 10:00 pm at night. I teach and do all the paperwork for the dept. I am always getting phone calls at home no matter what if I'm home during the week or even the weekends. Our classes also run on Saturdays.

I try to give my staff the freedom to make judgement calls when I'm not they but they always want my opinion anyway. Gets really stressful when I don't get a break.
