on time
i always get to work 20 - 30 minutes early to work to get my day started.
I agree. Lost time can never be found. When you're late, you'll spend the rest of the day rushing to find that extra time. For me, I'm at work at least an hour before my first class. There is so much administrative work that goes along with teaching that I am never at a loss for things to do. As someone else stated, it also allows for a mental transition between home and work. And I believe everyone deserves cup of coffee/tea at an unrushed pace to start the day!
This is a good strategy Katie. When you start your day early, you really feel like your on top of things for the rest of the day.
Yes, the stress just continues. Getting up early is way easier than running behind all day.
This is true Darren. It's always nice to have good margin for error and a little wiggle room.
being early gives you time to make adjustments if something has changed and also to get everything set up and verify it is working properly.
I agree. If your're not early your're late. If you start your day "early" err, on time, fully prepared, not rushing it sets the tone for your whole day.
I agree once you are late its a domino effect of how the rest of the day is bound to turn out
That sounds like a great strategy Lise. It's great to get a head start on the day. Makes everything run so much more smoothly.
I always try to be at work an hour before my first class starts so that I can read emails or deal with things before the day begins. It also gives me time to transistion from home and work to have a cup of coffee and prepare my day or go over specific notes or information I want to share with my students that day. I hate to be late--I always feel like I am trying to play catch up all day.
On time set the stage for my day. Because I'm a yearly morning person this allows me to just not only be on time but also well prepared for listens to teach. I set the stage for being on time because I stress to my students the importance of being on time. On time prevents rushing through lectures, decrease stress.
