Identifying stressors

Knowing what is causing the stress helps reduce the stress

It is very important to identify the source of ones stress. Knowing what stresses you out enables you to handling the situation appropriately or avoid the source of the stress if possible.

For me the underlying issuses were really a shock to me once I started identifying the stress

I also have learned that when I know what is stressing me out I can start the process of change in my life to help reduce that stressor

Identifying what causes stress helps to relieve stress; however after identifying the stressor comes more stress when unable or helpless in finding a remedy to the source.

I could not agree with you more. Like anything in our professional and personal lives, if we cannot identify either our health issues that is causing stress, how are we going to correct it. You need to get to the root of what is causing you the stress.

Interesting challenge Glenn and so true. Sometimes the cause of stress is just impossible to isolate. This can be very frustrating when we're trying to come up with a solution to our problems.

Yes it is nice to identify the stressors for better management -- but sometimes there are stressors that you may not even be able to get at the cause

I agree, also. Sometimes we may think we are too busy to analyze what is causing the stress in our lives, but ultimately taking the time to make this analysis will help us to reduce stress and probably better manage our time, too.

Yes, we must often assess and reassess our lists to make sure priorities are up to date Maureen. Priorities can change daily, even hourly, depending on the nature of our role.

I agree. Sometimes, it takes a while before we even can identify some of our new stressors. We are so busy doing task for our work, taking care of our loved ones and ourselves. Frequent analysis of our 'To DO List, Time/Stress Management is crucial for us to cope from day to day.

Wow, it sounds like you've lived through so much Amy. These kinds of events are hard, and stressful, but they do tend to make us stronger.

I completely agree. I have gone through alot of personal issues in my life, with a Big move, and 2 deaths in the family, I manage to still work and be a great instructor but coping with my personal issues on my personal time. I have students that depend on me to be able to come in with a positive attitude and not let the students feed off of any negativity in the classroom.
