Classroom stress

One stressor is having to response to questions on materials that were just covered in lecture. I have come to accept the situation that no matter how well and clearly I think I have covered the material, there will be students who did not 'get it' and therefore I must re-address the topic. This acceptance keeps me calm and not uptight

I think this is an excellent idea very well worth trying.

to me students can get stress out when making an item that's difficult which in turn can cause myself to stress out. When I see that happening i always remind students to relax it's their first time

This use to stress me out when I started to teach but as time goes by you learn not to let it bother you and adapt your teaching methods so this wont become a reoccurring thing in the class, I found out if you ask them (the students) if everyone understands what we just went over or any questions you can beat them to the punch and go over the materials again. Make it a demo works very well I find.

For each question there are three to four students thinking the same thing. I prefer to think of this as 'reframing'. It is a challenge to restate the information a different way.

I agree that having another student explain the concept may help the student to "get" the concept. If the student still does not "get it" I will have the student wait after class and have a discussion with them and try to help them to understand the concept. Spending to much time on one concept makes the students who "get it" upsiet but delays the rest of the discussion

Yes, sometimes students use a language that other students respond well to. It's a great experience for the student who plays and instructional role too.

I totally agree I can say I repeat my self 7 times in 7 differrent ways per class and yet I still will have one student who did not here me or does not understand. I did find one trick is to have another student explain sometimes they hear each other better than they hear the teacher.

Yes, this is true John. Students learn at varied paces. Some are quick studies. For others, we've got to go over the material multiple times, and in multiple ways. One way to do this and save time is to ask students who understand the material to explain what they know to the students who need more help with it. It can be a great experience for both parties.
