Faculty/Administration
I have to admit, I worked for another college and people were always at each other's throats, the wrong person was running the show, and no one was very friendly because of the daily atmosphere. I am very blessed where I am now because everyone is always very friendly, willing to listen to suggestions, and they appreciate what we do. It's a wonderful feeling. I do relate to those of you who have issues with your institutions. The best advice I can offer is "Is it worth it?" If not, try to find an equitable solution to the problem(s) or find another job as soon as you can. You're more important than being miserable!
I do work with some Faculty /Administration that should not be in charge but you have to put up with it our find another job
Collin, Sounds like a great plan. Note that the thoughts, perspectives and feelings of 'everyone else' do matter. So while leaders are important to respect and follow, it's good to build great relationships within your community of peers too.

This is wonderful advice! While there are always people in leadership I have seen it to be true that only some of them are truly leaders, regardless of the system/school/job. Not being a political guy myself I am not particularly good at navigating my responsibilities with respect to politics and hierarchy. I do like the idea of following the leaders and mostly staying out of the way everyone else. Thanks!
Zbigniew, It's tough when we can't count on our leaders. To your point, people are often given a title without the skills to get the job done. Conversely, you might also find people in your workplace who emerge organically as natural leaders with no title at all. My best advice is to follow the people who know what they are doing while respecting politics and hierarchy.

Quality vs quantity, that is a question! Often leadership has a title but no testemony which creates wrong atmosphere. I often place myself in their shoes but keep in forefront students benefit. It does place me on a carpet at times but in outcome has a positive impact on parties involved. Rearly is there folks gifted in building a team as most of a time egos get in the way. I am glad You are blessed to be where You are at.
