My stress
I have a lot of stress in my life because of the multiple hats that I wear. I am a small business owner and have property an business interests in 3 states. This means that I travel quite a bit and it seems like there is something always on my plate from various projects. I teach for 4 schools, which used to coordinate pretty well. For instance, there were a few times a year where their break coincided, which was a great time to regroup and distress. However, in the past couple of years, their schedules have gotten off synch such that it is probably only Christmas Day that someone isn't expecting something from me. One way I am finding to relax a bit is to spend as much time near the ocean as I can. Water is a stress buster for me!
Latoya,
It is amazing how life plays out on a daily basis. Unfortunately, the nature of our society relies primarily on how you live your life. The stresses of home are making sure you provide for your family. Then this is compounded by your work situation and if you make enough money and on top of that your work schedule interferes with your time with your family. If you become sick because of the previous two stresses, then this is another factor. We try so hard to find those quiet times to focus and unwind, but the demands of life sometimes just get the best of all of us.

Life can be very overwhelming at times. Between work,my son, sports, paying bills, auto repairs, cooking, cleaning, laundry, the list could go on and on for me. I always say to myself "if I don't take care of me, who will?" So, I have to set aside some time to get a pedicure, massage, take a walk, and definitely take advantage of using my vacation time when the students are on break. I am also searching for other fun activities/hobbies that I can do that will help alleviate some, if not all, of the stress
Music and exercise are two ways in which I deal with the stressors in my life. It is difficult to go to a gym so I have exercise equipment at home in which I make use of each day.
While driving home from work and sitting in traffic, I will listen to very soft, soothing music to keep me relaxed.
I think that certain types of music will calm me down. Especially jazz it is so soothing. I even listen to classical music
I totally understand what you mean and agree. I also play guitar, bass and drums. When my mind is focused on playing it takes me away from the day to day stresses of life. In that moment all there is is the music. I get the same thing from riding my motorcycle.
Well, my ideal instruments are guitar and bass - but I'm using the computer to record digital drums, keyboards, and other stuff. I'm basically a suburban punk, so rock music is relaxing to me. I don't limit myself, though; I'm working on a musical, which incorporates lots of different styles. Thanks for asking!
Michael, Nice! I'm curious to learn more about the ideal music for you as well as your ideal instrument.

For me, the stress relief is music. I make at least a half-hour of time every single day to either play or listen to music. Not only am I constantly aware of the reward waiting for me each day (and I remind myself I completely deserve), I've actually become a pretty decent musician!
