stress

instructor's stress is all the administrative work that has to be done along with the the work

Tony, So true! There are so many odds and ends that instructors take care of. It's so much more than 9-5. A little recognition can go a long way if only our administrations understand this.

I agree. I know that as instructors we have to do certain types of Administrative work as instructor, such as, going to after hour mandatory meetings, preparing lesson plans, making copies of the lesson plans for the students, bring in examples for the students to better understand, taking attendance, grading student's work, recording the activities or lack of activity each student has done, then putting all this information into the school portal, can take a tremendous amount of time. When one recognizes how much time is spent in doing all the paper work, coming to meeting, all done on your own time, it gets stressful. Plus you don't get any compensations for doing all the work an instructor has to do outside the classroom. It would be nice to have more recognition to instructors for all the extra work they do outside the classroom. And it would be nice to be specific on who you're recognizing, not a general great job to everyone. Because not everyone does a great job.

Agreed. There is a great amount of administrative work that is required as an instructor. It would be really great if all my attention could be put into teaching and meeting students' needs.

Sharika, Yes, a little up front proactivity can in fact go a long way!

Anna, Yes, administrivia is certainly a great source of stress for instructors. Most instructors do not serve in their roles because of it, but despite it. It's a necessary evil if you will.
