exercise helps with stress
I ride my bike to and from school, and it is great way to reduce stress physically and mentally
I walk twice per day, to and from school, to unwind from my day.
I do the music thing now when I can. Where can I get more info on the breathing?
There are a few nice techniques that can be done in the workplace. One is breathing exercises. You can do them from your desk. A second is taking a walk around campus during breaks. A third is listening to some music in your office.
What are some other methods that people use to relieve stress? Something that can be done in the work place.
Yes, good point James. Strength training is great for adding muscle and cardio helps with the heart. So balancing both makes for a nice overall exercise program.
I find a combination of strength training and cardiovascular training is the best way to cope with stressors and also maintain good overall health, strength and appearance.
I am not able to ride my bike tool on from school. However, I am able to ride my bike in and around my neighborhood. And this helps me to reduce stress and also clear my mind.
Wow, it sounds like you are very disciplined Ernesto! Great work and great focus.
Thank you Allana,
I agree with you. For me, the best way to deal with stress is working out at the gym at least 6 days per week. I really enjoy the time I spend working out and sharing conversations and thoughts with different people who are not connected with my daily job is also enjoyable and releasing to me.
Wow! It sounds like bike riding really has a lot of benefits for you Conni! You bring up a good point too. Online teaching does limit our physical activity. Exercise is a good way to compensate.
I agree. I started riding my bike a few years ago, to take a break from grading. It is a great stress release and it also helped my lose the 15 pounds I gained when I started teaching online!
This is true. Doing just a little exercise can go a long way in reducing stress and helping you stay fit!
By exercising and eating properly, it not only helps w/stress but, keeps me in shape and lose weight. Overall it makes me feel better.
Thanks for your expert perspective Allana! Yes, as a nutritionist, I imagine you know full well about the benefits of healthy diet and exercise.
As one of the nutrition instructors on campus, it is extremely important to include fitness, health, and wellness into our stressful lives. Not only will small meals throughout the day help relieve stress, but being able to let out energy in the form of exercise, dancing, swimming, or even talking a walk with a friend or family member will help you have a great night sleep. Lack of proper sleep will change one's mood for the worse and the "Grumpy" feelings and hungry feelings will lash out in negative behavior. This behavior will create stress, tension, and pass onto our students and staff. Meditation, streching, and yoga are fabulous ways of also taking time for you and lowering stress in our lives.
I moved closer to work, started riding my bike to work and exercising several times a week. It almost feels like I started taking an antidepressant, except more holistic. I am so much less stressed with no commute, more personal time and more serotonin from physical activity it is amazing. I also try to keep my home environment clean and serene.
That's great to hear Tony. I especially like the fact that you have various kinds of physical activities that all work for you. Variety can keep your interest and keep you motivated!
I have found that exercise is the best way to deal with stress. A walk, run, or a workout with weights does it for me.
I have stand-up workstation for computer and another low position for phone, conference. These switches work well for me along with walking the stairs for 10-15 min. pat j
