Sounds like this coping mechanism works well for you...and the dog Peter. Nice work finding a technique that helps!
Take more walks with the dog! This is my down time. I come home from work. The kids are in bed. My wife is coping with her stressors. I walk the dog and mentally tick off my to do list and work through my stressor list. Of course a cigar once in awhile helps out too.
I agree yoga is good way of reducing stress and excersing.
Yes, excersing is a great way of relieving stress. As well as Yoga.
I can certainly use senior colleagues to discuss some of these issues which cannot be entirely eliminated. Chris
Sleep is a tough one Kimberly. If you can limit your caffeine intake, that can help.
Talk about them more to my co-workers. Try to exercise alot more. My big problem- Not enough sleep. Try to get more sleep at night.
Sounds like you have a wonderful outlook Douglas. And you're right, not every day is going to go according to plan. Some days we are thrown off. It's nice to know you have come up with a way to press the reset button in those times.
I like the concept of "practical" goals Carol. We've got to be reasonable with ourselves if we want to achieve anything at all.
Excellent work Angela! Joining the gym sounds like an excellent step in the right direction. Quitting smoking will be tough but you can do it.
I know I can not eliminate all the stressors in life this alone helps me deal with stress issues. Being organized also helps. If you organize your life like it's a trailer park after a tornado, you'll be stressed.
When my day starts out on even keel my whole day seems to flow. If I go to bed early, I get up refreshed. If I leave for work 5 or 10 minutes early, I'm not driving white knuckled when I hit 4 red lights in a row, get stuck behind someone putting on make up, or the person text messaging. By spending a little time on the week end to prepare meals for the week, I'm not rushing to get going. This helps me.
On those days that some " jack wagon " messes up my plan,I step back, take a deep breath, and reorganize, and when I get home take a ride on the Harley.
I recently have joined a gym in which I paln to attend at least twice a week. Hopefully this will also replace my 5year smoking habit. :)
I agree; it can become another source of frustration. That's why we have to find a good balance in our life and create "practical" goals. Finding fun ways to stay in shaping is important.
Sometimes the activities we use to reduce stress can become too stressful if our expectations are too high. For example, I keep my exercise routine simple and fun; otherwise, I know I will not exercise.
Exercise, healthy diet, rest, and someone close who is willing to lend an ear are important stress reducers for me. I also enjoy reading and engaging in activities that clear my mind, including washing the dishes.
do excerices daily to relief stress naturally.
The stress that I have comes from my personal life. My classes are not stressful to me at all. When I get home from school I have a 15 year old daughter that wants a ride some where or she wants me to take her to the mall. I use to feel that as a parent it was my duty to accommodate her every wish, but I need to tell her that I will allow her only the weekends. This is my free time and I am willing
to share this time with her.
Good idea and I will use this method in coming days.
Make lists and prioritize what can be eliminated and kept.
Try not to let things get to me, and realize that I can only control so many things.
