I agree, even small clips of time can help so much. I like to walk across the street in between classes and breath the fresh air or sit and my car and listen to some enjoyable music. It's amazing how quickly you can "reset"

I think rewarding yourself and providing alone time are vital strategies to decreasing burn out and the effects of daily stress.We all should learn how to be our own best friend.

I work long days so when it comes to Fridays that is my ME DAY.My work week consists of four 10 to 11 hour days so I reward myself with what ever I want to do for myself. It may be a day of beauty, a back message or just lounging around the house. This lets me relax myself and gear myself up for another hectic week ahead.

Esra, So true. Otherwise, what's the point of all our work? It's great to build rewards into our schedules and lives. These keep us motivated to keep driving toward our professional and personal goals.

I have turned one of my stressors into a coping mechanism. My hour-long commute has become my "me" time. I turn the radio off, and enjoy the peace and quiet. I also resign myself to "getting home when I get there". Even when the traffic is lousy, home will still be there at the end of the drive.

Aaron, So true. Even at the gym, I see people who cannot disconnect from their cell phones and data devices. Taking a break from these things allows you to focus on you! Even just an hour away can make a big difference.

I like this idea. Amazingly, the cell phone has become such an integral part of our lives! It is so important to leave the phone and computer behind and get away sometimes.

I find going to the gym helps, as well. I will get on the treadmill with the music and just focus on my health!

That's a great strategy James! It's wonderful to occasionally leave your cell phone behind. It allows us to disconnect from our stress and the world.
