Managing stress

As a parent with a child who has had life long medical problems that continue today I have had my share of stress. Remedy? Stay busy, keep your day full of activities that don't allow you time to feel sorry for yourself. You are not the person with the medical problem. This keeps me focused on life and I find I am a much better parent with more energy and support for my 36 year old son. Work can be a cure especially for depression and stress. This is how I cope!

Michael, Sounds like you have experienced some really challenging moments in life. I admire your outlook and approach. It's so easy to give up when faced with situations like these. Your persistence defines how strong you are.

Dr. Melissa Read

I have an elderly parent in the same boat. I also have a retired older sibling who does not "know" how to assist me with the care of our mother. We have finally been able to get someone to come in a couple of hours a day five days a week, but there is still a lot to do.

I have had to try to "move" the stressors around until I can handle them better. I understand that sometimes you feel as if you are being pulled from every angle, but I have had to realize that I am just one person and I will do the best I can.
