meditation

I have found that meditation is tremendously helpful to me. For me it is almost a way of looking at everything in a calm, objective manner and gaining insights on how to move forward.

Yes,
western society is full of constant stimulation...car noise, cell phones, TV, environmental noise, etc... as well as physical stimulation caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, sugar, MSG, food dye, etc...
our minds & bodies RACE constantly because our flight & fight mechanism is never turned off.
meditations & deep breathing are a contrast to turn this constant surging adrenalin off!!!

The mind needs time to catch up, & empty all of the millions of racing thoughts from the day...

Other wise the mind is a jumble of misfiled information
Quiet time & stillness are a necessity for mental health!

Hello I have never tried mediatation. But I love to sing and thatnks my way of coping. If that doesn't relieve I love to get my feet and nails done.

Jeffrey, Yes, music can be such a powerful force in our lives. It can completely change the mood of the room. It sounds like you have identified the kind of music that works best for you. Everyone is different, but I'm glad to hear new age works for you!

Dr. Melissa Read

Removing my self from the situation and sitting quietly allows me time to think the situation through and make a good decision.

Meditation is wonderful. I once attended a silent No one could use any means of communication such as email, ipod, Ipad, cell phones, internet etc. You go about your day as normal but cannot speak with anyone unless it was urgent or something important. Otherwise everything was written. Throughout the day we would record our thoughts and discuss what we learned about ourselves. I found this helpful. I solved so many personal problems and learned so much by driving without listening to the radio. You notice so much when you take a break from the norm and simply sit in silence.
