the yearly 'watch'

I get stressed a little when I hear I'll be watched as I instruct to do the yearly 'watch' of teachers to make sure they are doing well. I know I am, it just a added stressor. I try not to think about them coming in because I know I'm already a great teacher, and do my 'thing'.

While having an in class evaluation as an educator can be stress provoking in and of itself, I look at this as an opportunity to improve, something we can do. As an ADON, I also need to evaluate faculty and even if I do not know the specific material, I am looking for class interaction and how the instructor is teaching, not necessarily content. I must admit that I enjoy and dread giving evaluations. I enjoy because of learning from others and helping them to improve. I also stress because I want faculty to do well, but am cautious how to deliver information to make it a positive learning experience.

Me, too. I feel I have to put on more of a "show". I also know that from previous faculty observations, the ones that were observing me did not have any knowledge of my course and gave inadequate feedback or were disruptive.
