Rationale for Learning
How many of us believe what was stated in "Rationale for Learning" that we are educational salespeople of the courses and their contents like car salespeople ?
Courses are created for a reason. Students frequently have trouble understanding why certain aspects of course content is necessary or how it relates to their personal interests and goals. It is necessary for an instructor to help students see "the big picture." For example, writing skills may not seem relevant to a personal trainer, yet the ability to communicate effectively is important no matter the vocation.
I agree with this because it is completeley essential for students to obtain the necessary knowledge base and skills to work in this field. This job deals with patient care and skills can not be compromised at any time because if they were it could possibly be tragic for the patient.
It is true, I tell my students that they should wish to convince folks that they are with it, in their field, and that to do that they need the knowledge presented in this course. Gary Johns
Hi Anthonia,
We are like salespeople. We have to sell our students every day to come back the next day, therefore we must use the right wording, actions, etc.
