Externship
How do we use these tools as MA Coordinator?
Most students in my classes procrastinate on securing an externship until the last minute. Then, they usually settle for something that may not be a perfect fit for them. We've decided to try incorporating searching for a final externship on their daily peformance grades. Once a week, they are given a form to complete with the names of companies that they have researched. So far, it seems to be working!

My medical students have the same experience/results as your students. I always tell my externs that you get to show off for 180 hours, impress personnel so that you are considered for employment or least get a referral.

They do 180hrs. at a medical office or urgent care center.I make regular visits.
They spend a week shadowing,then a week or two beeing observed and then as the site feels comfortable they are let loose to work their own.
We have a wonderful group of sites that are very instrumental in helping to teach our externs and if there is an opening at the site, they usually get placed in a position after graduation and if not the site usually knows of a place that is hiring and puts in a good word for our students.

What type of externship program you have setup for your MA's?

A MA is a medical assistant.They do both clinical and administrative work in the medical office.
