Class Participation
When a student feels more involved with his/her education it will motivate them to take ownership of the process....
Students whom have clear expectations have a clear understanding of what clearly is needed for them to succeed.
Hi paula,
A successful instructor has a good idea about who's in their class as well as learning and personalities...how do we reach them in terms of accountability? I think one of the toughest aspects to what we do, is teach accountability...it should be so simple and yet it is a constant battle; even when the expectations are up front and very clear.

I agree that students who are motivated do take the owership of there educational success, when they participate and feel like there comments mean something.
I agree that we need to provide students what they need to be successful. The challenge is discovering what that might be. I believe that a good instructor needs to take the time to learn what the individual student needs. The question then becomes where do you draw the line and make them accountable.

Hi Kathy,
I concur! As instructors we must give our students everything they need to be successful. The rest is truly left up to them.

Hi Alcide,
Students should always feel like they have ownership of their education. As instructors we have to do all we can to help students stay motivated and ecouraged.

This is so true. It also serves as a
re-enforcement that they will get out of the course what time and effort they put into their education. As instructors we facilitate everything they need to meet the standards and they can take it upon themselves to take the ownership and utilize all the tools we provide them with.
