Course Sysllabus
The instructor must make sure that his or her students clearly understand the road map for the class.
That's a great idea provided they are capable of reading. I like the idea of including them in this portion to begin with. My only concern would be putting someone on the spot since I don't know them yet. I will try to incorporate the principles you are using here in my introduction of the course in some fashion.
We take turns reading the Syllabus. When class starts I assign a section to the students to read and ask them to explain what it means. We stop along the way and I let them know a few things by painting a picture for them of what to expect and how to accomplish the task. We spend time on the objectives - I love helping them to make the connection. I let them know when they walk away from class these are the things you should take with you. I also invite them to ask me or the instructor - when will this objective be covered or explain how we met that objective?
Hi Linda,
I agree! The syllabus is a great tool to refer to.

Hi, My name is Linda Ricketts and I feel that a syllabus plays a very important part in our classroom. Student will be able to follow and prepare them self as the couerse goes on and meet the school requirement for that course. The syllabus also is a road map to the student sucess.
I agree, and I have been thinking about giving a quiz on it to make sure the students are in fact understanding the 'road map for the class'
Hi Reginald,
I concur! It is the instructor's responsibility to provide clarity to students as it pertains to the course requirements.
