Setting a stage for success
What are the key point to setting a stage of success?
I agree with what has already been said. Learner Autonomy, or helping students to understand how to find information themselves and learn on their own is incredibly important. Making sure they also see how the information will have relevance in their future will help them to become engaged.
Another thing that has been important for me is building the self-image of students. Many come to school having plenty of doubts about their possibility of success. Letting them know that they can succeed and will if they follow certain expectations is in my opinion most important.
Hi Juan,
Help them see the relevance of the course so that they fully understand how the course is going to help them professionally.

Most key elements of success are designed by instructors and students themselves.
The key elements of success are not only designed by instructors but by students themselves by being proactive and getting involved in active participation and group discussions which involves critical thinking, reasoning, abstracting, and problem solving abilities of mind. In other words, students should be responsible for their own education to make them successful not only in classroom but also at workplace.
I find that key elements for success include not only professional relevancy of the material but setting the stage for intellectual inquiry. If students learn that they can explore a topic intellectually on their own--that their own thoughts are valuable and can lead somewhere complex and interesting--that can lend some excitement to the class.
I wouldn't rely on this alone, though. To be honest, it's a slightly old-fashioned idea about education.
