Dealing with disruptive students
In dealing with this type of student it is important to separate them from the group. Its then important to listen. If we can determine the cause of the students problem we can then help them. If the student continues they must be removed for the good of the class.
I have found that on a number of cases, the student needs extra attention. They may be bored with the class or external issues may be the culprit. Deal with the distruption but then engage the student if possible and that might make all the difference.
I have dealt with a few disruptive students in the classroom. I have found that you should not attempt to diffuse it in the classroom. I have also found that usually the behavior does not start from within the classroom. It usually has an external source.
I utilize counseling forms similar to the workplace.
